What is karma? The dictionary defines it as the good or bad emanations felt to be generated by someone or something. In simple terms, what goes around comes around. If you want something good to happen to you, practicing the law of karma in several simple ways can help this to happen.
Think Positively
The Dalai Lama said that “not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck”. If you constantly think negatively, than you are more prone to have negative things happen to you. Instead, why not think positively about a situation. Although this may be hard to do sometimes, but if you try hard to see the bright side of a bad situation, better things may happen.
Smile at People
From a psychological point of view, a smile can greatly elevate a person’s self-esteem. Plus, it has been shown to relieve stress as well. Smile at a complete stranger and brighten up someone’s day. By smiling you are emitting positive energy and in return you may get positive energy back.
Do an Anonymous Good Deed for Someone
Contribute to your karmic bank account by doing an anonymous good deed for a random person. Don’t do it because you expect something in return, do it simply because you’ll feel good doing it. It doesn’t even have to be something big, something as simple as feeding a parking meter that is running low with spare change, letting someone ahead in line, or paying for a tired-looking stranger’s cup of coffee would suffice. Do this and be pleasantly surprised when nice little things start happening to you too.
Respect Yourself and Others
First recognize your own self-worth and show respect to yourself. Each and every one of us deserve to be treated with respect and reverence. By acknowledging this, we will be able to show kindness to ourselves and to other people and thus, earn good karma.
Build up good karma and in return you may find more and more good things happening to you.
